Ekka day!

So, today is the Ekka day... Or not exactly, today is they day people working in the central area of Brisbane have their day off.. Which should be quite a few people.. And the reason for this is that they should go to the Ekka(?). When I write this two of my regular readers have spent around 3 hours or something there already, running around and doing whatever you do on a market, and they still have like 8-9 hours to go.. Anyways, me and Steve are of to check it out in a bit (although we went there for 30min or so on Monday, which I kinda thought was enough). I don't really enjoy being at a place where there's stacks of animals (and animal pooh), lots and lots of kids, lots of stalls there try their best to make you test (and usually, in my case, make a fool of yourself), people bumping in to you from everywhere and stuff. But, I may be wrong and this may be a totally wonderful experience!!!! And I sit in a corner and cry when they close.. Update will follow, watch this space!

Other news.. The BEACH is Awesome! What better way to spend a Monday then going up the coast and haning on the beach, throwing a Zocker Combo football around, and then go for lunch at one of the restaurants near by? Not many that I can think of.

Anyways, have to go and make some pancakes and then it's off to the Ekka...

Oh, btw, Mel, what about the Ronali? You forgot them in your race!

HAHAHA!!
Ali, you should wear makeup to church more often!

How is everyone going? Reading this site makes me miss everyone :( Though, we are having a great time! (Sorry Mattias, I'm using your blog to save me from writing an email to everyone)

We've climbed mountains, glaciers, National Park tracks (a 4.5hr walk!), an 8 level Ferry and rocky beach walks, seen so many beautiful animals (including seals!), met some fun people and visited a dodgy church. We are having the time of our lives!!

I'm having trouble with the phone, so I haven't been able to call Australia, or even text, so apologies if you're feeling ignored.

Lots of love to everyone!!

how could i forget Ronali!!! that's fantastic!

Mattias - you really missed out on the full ekka experience after you left. The feeling of your legs turning numb after sitting on wood for hours. Tanya kernigan singing the yeehah song (again), the motorcross (FANTASTIC), Great fireworks, holden utes!!! I really want to become a motorcross/ute driver who dabbles with pyrotechnics in my spare time. Could be dangerous, or could be really exciting!! Then we went on the ferris wheel & haunted house. The best stuff always happens at night, that's what you have to learn about the ekka!! So next year, when we drag you along again - come for the night stuff. The wierdo's in us all always comes out after dark.

Climbin mountains, glaciers, nation park tracks, ferrries, beach walks, dodgey churches.. seems like you guys are busy over there, sounds cool, as well!

Already seen the utes, never heard her sing, and not seen the motorcross, but fireworks are always fireworks.. The numb feeling in your legs after sitting fir a couple of hours.. Bummer, knew I'd miss something!

Mattias you just don't know what your missing out on! I go to the ekka out of tradition! It's the great Brisbane tradition and you should just go out of respect to this tradition. YOu missed out on many great things in the morning and at night.

You missed the fruit display... fantastic again.. I just don't know how they keep the standard so high year after year! You missed belting out the national anthem with your hand over your heart! Brought a tear to my little eye! What about the bush poet on a horse... ahhh yes and you missed the dog pavilion!

It's always funny watching the owners running around in their best attire and white shoes... it's even funnier when it's a lady in a tight skirt with a huge dog. Nothing funnier than watching them try to keep up! HE HE HE

Ohhh what a great day! It's not worth going unless you get there early and leave late! Especially with the entry fee the price it is!

Although you have spoilt the beef pavilion for me now...I just go to look at the cute calves etc. and I didn't really give a second thought to how they may end up! Now when I look at cattle all I picture is a carcass!! Thanks Mattias!

All in all a great day... tired but happy!

Good to hear from you guys over in the land of sheep! We miss you too! I think Amy is missing you too Debbie.... everytime I go over there is pile of washing up on the sink...we all know who does the washing up now hey!! (;

Make sure you enjoy your last week!! Have fun!! :D

I found a computer! At Robina Town Centre. I just been hanging out with some of the emos down here. A great bunch. they were having a fight at the cafe. Really - there's no better way to spend a thursday night...

Ali (looking good :-P), the person opposite me on the computer had "Can't Touch This" on their ringtone. Does Ali read this blog?

Well it seems everyone's having fun days up there in Brisbane town. Driving around sitting in people's backyards for hours is getting a bit old now. Ekka might have been worth it after all (not that I really had a choice). I have a long weekend this weekend!

So I'm finally getting a holiday Deb, even if it is one day (maybe two) ;-) still need a few more to catch up. Where in the long white cloud are you two adventurers?

$0.30 worth of credit left and all the shops are closing now. I'm off.
